About

Hello! My name is Ben Roberts, and I make music on the cello and fiddle, primarily in classical and traditional Irish styles. I’m originally from Denver, Colorado, and I’m now based in New York and Boston.

I have been teaching music since 2020, and I currently hold positions with the Club Passim School of Music and Needham Public Schools in Boston.

I have been lucky enough to study with renowned professors Melissa Kraut and Liz Knowles and to perform with the likes of Esperanza Spalding and John Pattatucci, though many of my favorite performances occurred at Irish sessions, tucked away in the corner of a pub.

I can be heard live weekly at The Irish Village and The Druid in Boston, MA, on Wednesday and Thursday nights respectively.

Compositions

This video, made by Carolina Ebeid and scored by myself, was made in 2023 to accompany readings given by Julie Carr from her book - Mud, Blood, and Ghosts: Populism, Eugenics, and Spiritualism in the American West.

These short compositions were created for the podcast Return the Key.
